The Lake View Chiefs hosted Abilene Cooper Thursday night at San Angelo Stadium. The Chiefs would come up short in this game 20-41.
The Chiefs gave Cooper all they could handle for the first 3 quarters of the game. Lake View was able to use their potent run attack and use up the clock to keep the high powered Cougar offense off the field. Stephen Guebara and James Palmour ran the option well and gave the Cooper defense fits. LaDaynian Evans had one receiving touchdown and 5 receptions on the night. Garret Friday was able to chip in 3 receptions and filled in for the injure Alex Ayala as the fullback and had several key first downs.
The Chiefs would have a tough task Thursday night of keeping the Cougars out of the end zone. Abilene’s high powered offense would only punt one time on the night. With less than a minute to go, Lake Views Jeremiah Brown broke though the line and blocked the punt, giving the Chiefs the football at the 5 yard line. Stephen Guebara would score short after as time expired in the game.
The Chiefs JV finished the season at 5-5 and district play at 2-2. The Chiefs future looks bright with big wins over 6A Lubbock Coronado and district foes Lubbock High and Plainview.
