The Lake View Chiefs JV football team traveled to Plainview on Thursday night to face the Bulldogs. The Chiefs would win the battle up front and ultimately win the game 16-12 and bring their overall record to 5-4.
In the first half, the Chiefs offense was able to drive down the field in 13 plays but a tough defensive stand by Plainview forced the Chiefs to kick a 27 yard field goal by Luke Smetana. That field goal would be the loan score for the Chiefs in the first half as they would go down 12-3. The Chiefs would come out in the second half and run the ball at will against Plainview. Stephen Guebara scored two rushing touchdowns on the night with the big help from the offensive line. Running backs Alex Ayala and James Palmour chipped in several big runs to help the Chiefs roll to a solid victory against a good Plainview team.
The Chiefs defensively did a great job making the adjustments at halftime and held the bulldogs scoreless in the second half. Big plays by the defensive front gave the Plainview offense all they could handle. Rafael Cruz used his speed on the line to make several big stops in the backfield as Tru Vasquez had several big hits from the lineback spot that would stop the strong run attack of the Bulldogs.
The Chiefs will be back in action for the final game of the season against Abilene Cooper at 5:00pm @ San Angelo Stadium.
